Healy - President
Ruwena Healy is the President of Marketing 24/7, Inc.
a consulting firm with expertise in developing marketing
plans for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals
such as attorneys, accountants, bankers and expert witnesses
to improve their business development effectiveness and
to increase revenue and profits. Ruwena’s twenty years of
marketing experience include ten years specializing in “professional
services marketing,” most recently as Director of Marketing
& Recruiting for a 50+ law firm in Birmingham. She also
served as Director of Client Services for a nationally recognized
forensic accounting and fraud examination firm. While in
that position, Ruwena authored sections of “Building Your
Fraud Examination Practice,” a nationally taught course
sponsored by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners
(“ACFE”).
Ruwena’s awards include being
one of Birmingham Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 (class
of 1997); the recipient of two public relations awards in
2007 both in the area of “Writing for PR” for the Public
Relations Council of Alabama’s state-wide competition and
two first place marketing awards for “Communication” and
“Corporate Identification” presented by the Alabama Chapter
of the Society of Marketing Professional Services (2002);
the honoree of the Victor Award at the 45th Annual Distinguished
Sales & Marketing Awards hosted by the Sales & Marketing
Executives of Birmingham (2002); and named by ConventionSouth
magazine as one of the “Meeting Industry Pros To Watch in
2001.”
Ruwena is a frequent lecturer. Recently,
she served as a key presenter at the Alabama Bar Institute
of Continuing Legal Education’s “How to Run a Successful
Practice” seminar specifically discussing “Targeting Your
Chosen Clientele.” In addition, she has presented programs
such as:
• “Don’t Be Shy: Let Personal Promotion Help Build Your
Company’s Brand” to the Samford Business Network;
• “Creating a Foundation for a Successful Marketing Plan”
to the North Alabama Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate
Management;
• “Creating Marketing Action Plans that Increase The Bottom
Line” to the Talladega County Bar and to the Pell City Rotary
Club;
• “Client Development” at the Alabama Bar Institute for
Continuing Legal Education and the Alabama State Bar’s “Practice
Management” seminar; and
• “Knowing and Building Customer Relationships First-Hand”
to one of UAB’s Services Marketing class.
An active member of her community, Ruwena founded and currently
serves as the Chair of the
Legal Marketing Association’s Birmingham City Group.
In 2007, she concluded her third term on the Board of Directors
of the Southeastern Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association
(2004-07). She is a member of The Women’s Network a group
who recognizes women who have achieved excellence in their
field. Ruwena was a founding Board Member of a new, non-profit
called Magic City Actors Theatre (2005-2008). She served
as the theatre group’s Vice Present of Public Relations
& Marketing for the 2007-08 season. She also served
as the VP of Public & Community Relations (2005-07)
for the Birmingham Chapter of the National Association of
Women Business Owners (NAWBO) where she simultaneously served
as their Executive Director (2005-07). Other past community
activities include:
• Chair of the Public Relations Committee of the Alabama
Chapter of ACFE (2004-05);
• Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Development
(class of 1996); Chair of Leadership Development (1997);
• Board of Directors of The Society for Marketing Professional
Services (2002-03);
• Board of Directors of Sales & Marketing Executives
of Birmingham (1997-2002), where she served as the Chair
of the Women In Business Seminar & Awards Luncheon (1997-98);
• Founding Member and President of Legal Recruiting Administrators
in Birmingham (1998-99); and
• Fund Raising Committee Member of the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society in Birmingham (1992-93).
Ruwena has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration
with a concentration in Marketing from the University of
Florida (1987) and a Masters in Business Administration
from Florida State University (1991).
